I SEARCHED EVERYWHERE TO FIND SOMEONE DEALING WITH CHRONIC BLUSHING AND ERYTHROPHOBIA BUT CAME UP EMPTY.
THE DISCOURAGEMENT AND DEFEAT FELT CRIPPLING.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.
NO ONE COULD RELATE.
NO ONE UNDERSTOOD.
I WOULD SEARCH THE INTERNET PERIODICALLY AND STILL NOTHING. I WISHED THERE WAS SOMEONE OUT THERE TALKING ABOUT THIS CONDITION.
THEN I REALIZED … I COULD BE THAT PERSON FOR SOMEONE ELSE WHO MIGHT BE SEARCHING.
Hi! I’m April. I have an overactive sympathetic nervous system and started chest/neck blushing consistently in 2017. I had climbed the “corporate ladder” and the pressure to perform along with C-PTSD around being judged (that’s a long story for another time), my body knows the fight or flight response very well. Even when my mind is calm.
I started speaking out about chronic blushing and erythrophobia in November 2019. Since then I have connected with others from all over the world who are dealing with the same thing.
In March 2020, I got certified as a CBT Practitioner and Empowerment Coach so that I could help encourage others through their insecurities and help them discover the power they possess regardless of their blushing skin.
Blushing Phoenix was created to simply let you know you’re not alone. I can’t tell you how many people have told me how much better they feel once they find the channel and know they are not alone.
The brand was named Blushing Phoenix because I believe we are transforming through fire. When we blush, we get hot. We know we’re blushing. We want to run and hide.
If we can move through these feelings and learn how to process in the moment, we are transforming. We are teaching our brains a new way. We are learning to stand empowered even when our outside is telling a story that we didn’t write.
We can gain power and control over how we see ourselves. We can write our own stories and learn to be open and encouraged with this rare condition.
Created Just For You!
Products Created Just For You:
These products were created with you in mind! As blushers, we often hide from our condition. Shame accompanies chronic blushing and over time I have learned there is nothing to be ashamed of in regards to a sympathetic nervous system that we cannot control.
Public displays and sharing about our experience with blushing defuses the fear and shame.
I know it’s easier said than done, so I created products to help ease you into bringing awareness and opening up conversations around chronic blushing and erythrophobia.
It is also my hope to help create or provide products and services to help reduce blushing, help build confidence, and help you continue to transform into who you are meant to be - beyond blushing.
Your purchases help support Blushing Phoenix so I can continue to provide you with free content and resources.

For blushers every day common activities can create a blush. Our Sympathetic Nervous Systems send signals to the brain that we need to survive. This signal creates increased heart rate and pushes blood and oxygen through the body quickly causing dilation of blood vessels. This is what creates the blushing imagery on our bodies.
If we can calm the Sympathetic Nervous System, we can calm the blushing.
We have partnered with Raven’s Moon Apothecary to help bring you some of the highest quality tea to help calm your overactive Sympathetic Nervous System.
Calming the system can help to reduce blushing significantly and the fear that accompanies turning red.

Pressing Forward is a memoir. It takes you through my journey in 2011 with debilitating anxiety, depression, and panic attacks. I was at the bottom of the bottom.
My blushing wasn’t a problem during this time period, but I feel it’s what sparked the overactive nervous system that contributes to the blushing I experience today.
My fight or flight response never turned off during this season, taxing my adrenals and my body as a whole.
In that season you couldn’t physically see it on my body (yet), but I was suffering. I had gotten so far off from who I was - unknowingly.
I didn’t realize that anxiety is not always a warning. Oftentimes anxiety is an invitation.
That’s what it was for me.
I also need to add that for 14 years, I strived to be ‘good’ from the view of religion. I no longer follow those ideologies, but they served a great purpose in my life for that season. At the time, I didn’t realize that the shame and guilt was breaking me open. My voice was silenced. I was held captive to an idea of ‘freedom’, but was anything but free.
This is my story of hope.
Being human is not always easy. Nor is it supposed to be easy. It’s complex. That’s what makes us human. That’s what makes life so beautiful. All the depth, complexities, shadows, and light. We encapsulate it all.
